The Express Entry scores continue to drop
On June 25, 2020, the Canadian Immigration Department (IRCC) conducted a new Express Entry draw. This was a Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program-specific draw. In the invitation round #154, IRCC invited 3,508 candidates to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The lowest score was 431 points, six points less compared to previous CEC-specific round. This the new lowest score of the year. The tie-breaking rule for this round was April 3, 2020 at 12:56:32 UTC. In 2020, Canada issued 49,900 invitations to apply in twenty-one draws of Express Entry.

Ontario invited 26 business candidates
On June 24, 2020, the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) issued 24 Invitations to Apply to the eligible candidates under the Entrepreneur Stream. This was the third round of Ontario’s business immigration stream in 2020. The lowest score for this round was 134, two points more compared to the round of April 22. Expressions of Interest received and scored by the OINP between November 22, 2019, and June 19, 2020, were eligible for getting an ITA in this round. In total, Ontario invited 70 Entrepreneurs in 2020.

Prince Edward Island conducted three draws in June
On June 25, 2020, Prince Edward Island published an update regarding the invitation rounds held in June. On June 10, the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) invited 9 candidates working in essential service industries such as Healthcare and Trucking under the Labour Impact Category. On June 18, the PEI PNP issued invitations to another 10 such workers. Finally, on June 23, PEI invited 71 skilled workers via the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams and 20 candidates in the Business Work Permit Entrepreneurs stream to apply for a provincial nomination. The lowest score for the business-candidates was 117 points, five points less compared to the February draw. In total, PEI invited 110 candidates in these draws, and since the beginning of the year, the province issued 415 invitations. In the last twelve months, PEI PNP invited 1291 candidates, and 9% of them were in the business category.

IRCC updated the program delivery instructions for vulnerable workers
On June 25, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has updated the program delivery instructions for vulnerable workers in the context of COVID-19. The officials have added additional information on such subjects as examples of abuse, evidence of abuse and referrals to compliance regimes. This program was launched in June 2019. It allows foreign workers on employer-specific work permits who were abused by their employer to apply for an open work permit.
