Ottawa invited 1,786 FSW and CEC candidates in the first two all-program draws
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has released preliminary figures on how many Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates were invited in the past two Express Entry draws. From the total of 3,250 invited candidates, there were 1,164 Canadian Experience Class (CEC), 622 Federal Skilled Worker Program, and 1,464 Provincial Nominee Program candidates in the most recent Express Entry draws. IRCC has also invited the Federal Skilled Trades Program candidates but has not declared the exact number of invited applicants.

OINP nominated 309 foreigners to apply for PR
On July 27, 2022, the province of Ontario released a new update on the issuance of nomination certificates under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development issued nominations to 309 foreign nationals since the last update on July 11. In total, Ontario issued nominations to 4,805 foreign nationals in 2022. Last year, the province nominated 8,600 candidates to apply for permanent residence with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This year, Ontario can nominate 9,750 nominees.

Saskatchewan invited 748 candidates through the SINP
On July 28, 2022, Saskatchewan conducted new rounds of invitations in the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). In the Express Entry category, Saskatchewan issued 279 ITAs. Another 469 invitations were issued to the Occupations In-Demand category candidates. The lowest score in both categories was 68 points, the same as it was in the previous draw. All invited candidates had Educational Credential Assessments. In this draw, the SINP invited candidates under 19 different NOCs. This year, Saskatchewan has already invited 3,509 candidates.

Ontario updated the average application processing times for the OINP
On July 27, 2022, Ontario updated the average processing time in the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). As of now, the processing time for Ontario’s Master’s Graduates and Ph.D. Graduates Streams, Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills Stream, Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker, and Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream is 140-170 days. Processing times for Ontario’s Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream, Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream, and Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream are 120-150 days. The processing time for Ontario’s The Expression of Interest (EOI) Assessment in the Entrepreneur Stream still requires less than 30 days, while the application processing depends on the complexity of the business nomination application.

Canada introduced an update for Quebec Selection Certificate holders
On July 27, 2022, the Government of Canada published updated instructions for Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) holders currently residing outside Quebec on how to process applications received over the intake cap. The Government also added an “Eligibility Requirements” guidance for applicants who are in Canada in a province or territory other than Quebec. Ottawa also removed instructions regarding the requirement, demanding to have authorization to work at the time of submission. All CSQ holders travel to Canada under the International Mobility Program (IMP).
