Ontario issued all its nominations for 2019
On December 31, 2019, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) informed that it has reached its increased quota for nominations in 2019 and sent notifications to the applicants. In total, OINP nominated 7350 candidates under all streams of OINP. This included the 700 additional nominations allocated in December. In addition, OINP issued 41 nominations for temporary foreign workers in NOC Skill Level C in the framework of the federal government’s NOC C initiative. The new applications to the OINP will continue to be accepted and considered under the OINP’s quota for 2020.

British Columbia issued ITAs to 31 Tech Pilot candidates
On December 30, 2019, British Columbia held the last invitation round in the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) in 2019. In this draw, BC invited 31 candidates within the BC PNP Tech Pilot in four categories: Skills Immigration – Skilled Worker, Skills Immigration – International Graduate, Express Entry British Columbia – Skilled Worker, and Express Entry British Columbia – International Graduate. The lowest score in all four categories was 90 points. In 2019, BC invited 1,534 Tech Pilot candidates, a significant increase compared to 2018, when BC invited 1,141 candidates in the Tech Pilot. In total, British Columbia invited 9,480 foreign nationals to apply for a provincial nomination in 2019.

IRCC announced the date of the first invitation rounds in the IEC
On December 31, 2019, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced the date for the first invitation rounds in the International Experience Canada program. The first invitations to apply for a work permit in the IEC to be sent on January 6, 2020. Currently, most pools have been opened for registration, so candidates are encouraged to submit their profiles in the system. The results of the invitation rounds will be published weekly. Last year, Canada invited 136,480 young foreign nationals in this program.

New Brunswick will hold new recruitment events
New Brunswick has updated the list of recruitment events and job fairs the province will hold abroad. On February 5, 2020, the province will host a recruitment event for candidates in NOC 8241 (Logging machinery operators) and NOC 7511 (Long-haul Transport Truck Drivers) in Brussels, Belgium. Additionally, during February 5-6, New Brunswick scheduled an information session on New Brunswick’s Provincial Immigration Programs in Brussels for candidates in such sectors as Insurance (NOC 1212, NOC 1312, NOC 1313), Finance (NOC 0111, NOC 1111, NOC 1112, NOC 4163), Health Care (NOC 3113, NOC 3012, NOC 3233), and Skilled Trades (NOC 7231, NOC 7232, NOC 7237). The same NOCs will be targeted at the Emigration Expo event in Utrecht, the Netherlands on February 8-9, 2020.
