PR processing fees have been increased
On April 30, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) increased the permanent residence processing fees. The fee for an adult applicant will now cost $825 CAD, while for minors it is $225 CAD. The Right for Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) is now $500 CAD. The previous costs of $550 CAD, $150 CAD and $490 CAD, respectively, were in place since 2002. From now on, IRCC will adjust the fees every two years according to the inflation rate. IRCC also noted that the Express Entry system was not updated with the new fees. Therefore, until June 2, 2020, applicants must pay the fees in two payments. The initial payment must include the difference in the fee amount and should be paid in the ePayment portal while the second payment must be provided through the Express Entry account. Applicants will have to upload the receipt for the first payment under “Optional Documents: Client Information” in their list of documents.
