New Express Entry draw showed the lowest score since October 2017
On June 11, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held a new Express Entry draw aimed at candidates in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program. In draw #152, the government invited 3,559 foreigners to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The lowest score has dropped by three points and was 437 points. The last time such a low score was recorded in round #74 on October 18, 2017. The tie-breaking rule for this round was May 25, 2020 at 00:31:43 UTC. In 2020, Canada issued 46,000 invitations to apply in nineteen rounds of Express Entry.

Canada is reopening some VACs
On June 11, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced the gradual reopening of visa application centres (VACs) abroad. As more countries are restoring back the normal life, VAC resume limited services such as biometrics collection. So far, the following nine VACs have been reopened: Tel Aviv (Israel), Erbil (Iraq), Vienna (Austria), Düsseldorf (Germany), Abu Dhabi (UAE), Tokyo (Japan), Osaka (Japan), The Hague (Netherlands), and Rome (Italy).

On June 5, 2020, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) updated the processing times of the Labour Market Impact Assessment applications (LMIA). As of May 2020, average LMIA processing times were:
Global Talent Stream – 14 business days
Agricultural stream – 14 business days
Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program – 5 business days
Permanent residence stream – 29 business days
In-home caregivers – 10 business days
High-wage stream – 35 business days
Low-wage stream – 34 business days

Northwest Territories has launched an online application portal
On June 10, 2020, the government of Northwest Territories has finally launched the Online Application Portal. As of June 10, 2020, all applications in the Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) will be submitted through the online portal. During the transition period that will last until September 10, applicants will be able to apply for a territorial nomination both online and on paper. In addition, Northwest Territories have updated the NTNP Employer Driven Stream Guideline. The new instruction has eligibility criteria update and some other updates.
