New Brunswick will hold a virtual international recruitment event
New Brunswick will hold a virtual international recruitment event where New Brunswick’s employers will be recruiting in the transportation sector. International candidates who have experience in one of these 2 National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes are encouraged to get registered to receive an invitation to work in the province: NOC 1525 – Dispatchers and NOC 7511 – Transport truck drivers. To participate in the events, applicants must prepare the following documents: the photo page of the applicant’s current passport, visa for applicant’s current country of legal residence if it is not country of citizenship, language test results, ECA report, CV, and applicant’s spouse’s CV (optional).

Quebec prepares to accept applications under the 2021-2022 Program for Refugees Abroad
On December 15, 2021, the Government of Quebec announced that the province is preparing to accept applications of legal persons and groups of 2 to 5 natural persons under the 2021-2022 Collective Sponsorship Program for Refugees Abroad. The Program allows individuals to sponsor a refugee as well as his or her accompanying family members who are in a country other than Canada. The required form is now available on the Quebec.ca website. Eligible applicants must submit their applications through the Arrima platform from January 18 to February 16, 2022.

Alberta issued 6,094 nomination certificates in 2021
Alberta updated the information in the inventory of the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP). As of December 7, 2021, the province issued 6,094 nomination certificates. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) provided 6,250 nomination certificates to Alberta for 2021 which means there are still 156 nomination certificates to be issued this year. Currently, there are around 400 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications and 825 Expressions of Interest in the Alberta Express Entry pool. In 2021, AINP already invited 6,458 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in the Alberta Express Entry.

BCPNP invited 11 candidates under the Entrepreneur Stream
On December 15, 2021, British Columbia held a new draw for business candidates in the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP). In the Base Category of the Entrepreneur Stream, BC PNP invited 11 candidates. The lowest score of this round was 118 points, 5 points fewer compared to the previous draw. The maximum possible points in the Entrepreneur Stream grid are 200. 120 points candidates can get for self-declared factors such as Experience & Ownership, Net Worth, Investment, etc. Another 80 points are given for the business concept. In 2021, British Columbia already invited 70 entrepreneurs. Last year, BC issued 154 invitations to the business candidates.

Newfoundland and Labrador calls for projects to support the economic advancement of newcomers
On December 14, 2021, the Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism (OIM) and the Department of Immigration, Population Growth, and Skills (IPGS) of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador called for projects to support the economic advancement of newcomers in the province. The 2022-23 application process will consist of two stages, and priority for funding will be given to applications that are directly related to economic integration and settlement areas. All applications have to be submitted by 11:59 PM, January 21, 2022.
