IRCC’s call centres are back to work!
On April 27, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced the resumption of work of its Client Support Centre. Due to the COVID-19 quarantine measures, the work of the call centre was closed, and the agents of the department were serving clients via emails only. The government has upgraded the system, so the call agents now can securely work from home and provide information about the applications Mondays to Fridays from 9 AM to 5 PM EST. The online web-form inquiries are still available 24/7.

Temporary residents and misunderstanding about a visa extension
Parents or grandparents of Canadians who came here on a super visa that has now expired and are now in Canada due to international travel restrictions must apply for an extended stay. Many people have misunderstood the 90-day extension instructions issued by the immigration department in this regard. The visitors think that they have been granted another 90 days to stay in Canada. No action will be taken by the Canadian government if they continue to stay in Canada due to the coronavirus situation. But, during these 90 days, they need to apply for an extended stay. No action will be taken at this time. However, in the future, when they come to Canada, they may face questions. Staying in Canada without a visa extension may impact their credibility as a visitor.
