IRCC invited 341 provincial nominees in the new Express Entry draw
On June 10, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted a new Express Entry invitation round. In draw #151, the Immigration Department issued Invitations to Apply (ITA) to 341 candidates under the Provincial Nominee Program. The cut-off score in this round was 743 points, 14 points fewer than in the previous PNP-specific draw. The tie-breaking rule for this round was April 14, 2020 at 13:25:51 UTC. As of June 8, 2020, there are 143,567 profiles registered in the pool, 479 profiles less compared to the previous update. The number of profiles in the pool keeps declining. In eighteen Express Entry draws of 2020, IRCC invited 42,441 candidates to apply for Permanent Residence in Canada.

Andorra joins the International Experience Canada Program
On June 10, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) informed in a press release that Canada and Andorra have signed a new youth mobility arrangement. The agreement allows young Canadians and Andorrans to live and work abroad under the International Experience Canada (IEC) Program. Candidates aged 18 to 30 can apply for one-year work permits under the Working Holiday stream of the IEC. Andorra became the 36th participant of the program. In 2019, Canada invited 136,480 young foreign nationals in this program. In 2020, IRCC sent 41,922 ITAs in the IEC. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, Canada postponed new invitation rounds in late March. However, the program reopening is expected in the coming weeks as the situation gets improved.

Canada extended Ministerial Instructions for temporary residence processing
On June 10, 2020, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) published an update that Minister of Immigration has extended the current COVID-19 instructions for TRV applications until June 30, 2020. This means that limitations for processing applications for study and work permits as well as visitor visas remain in place until the end of the month. Interestingly, on June 8, IRCC announced about resuming processing of the temporary resident visas (TRVs) and electronic travel authorizations (eTAs), however, now this announcement is removed.

1.66 million travellers entered Canada over two months
According to new CBSA data, obtained by Toronto Sun, between March 21 and May 24, 2020, 1.66 million travellers crossed the border and entered Canada. Among them were 129,772 non-Canadian travellers. CBSA did not provide further explanation on the request for why so many people entered the country while the border was supposed to be close as a result of measured against the spread of the COVID-19.
