On March 21, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced a new online survey to collect feedback about the immigration experiences of clients who were advised by paid or unpaid representatives. From March 21, 2023, applicants who finalized their applications in 2022 may receive an email asking them to participate in the survey. The survey available in English and French must be completed by April 19, 2023. Participation in the survey is voluntary and confidential and will not affect IRCC applicants.

The BCPNP invited up to 258 skilled candidates under the new draws
On March 21, 2023, the Government of British Columbia issued new invitations under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) and invited qualified Skills Immigration candidates. In the general draw, the province invited 202 candidates. The minimum score for candidates invited in this draw was 85-106 points. The province issued 34 ITAs to candidates under the childcare-targeted draw for early childhood educators (NOC 42202). In the Healthcare-targeted draw, BC invited 17 candidates who scored 60 points. Furthermore, the province invited fewer than five applicants working in other priority occupations (s 31103, 32104). In total, the province issued up to 258 ITAs in this draw. This year, British Columbia has already invited 2,798 candidates.

IRCC approved nearly 600,000 applications under the CUAET
On March 21, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) updated the number of Ukrainian newcomers arriving in Canada under the Canada-Ukraine authorization for emergency travel (CUAET). According to the latest update, between January 1, 2022, and March 19, 2023, 25,518 Ukrainians arrived in Canada by land, and 165,452 Ukrainians reached by air. Between March 17, 2022, and March 16, 2023, IRCC received 943,730 applications under the CUAET. In total, IRCC has approved 616,429 applications from Ukrainian nationals.

More than 29,000 Afghan refugees have arrived in Canada since August 2021
On March 21, 2023, the Government of Canada made a new update regarding the Afghan refugees arriving in the country. The last update shows Canada has accepted 185 Afghan refugees since March 14, 2023. As of now, Canada has welcomed a total of 29,010 Afghan refugees. Canada received 17,535 Afghans and their families’ applications under the Special Immigration Measures Program for Afghans who had assisted the Government of Canada in Afghanistan. Most of them – 9,665 Afghans arrived in Canada under that program, while 15,710 Afghan nationals came under the Humanitarian program. In addition, Canada admitted 1,190 applicants under the pathway for extended family members of former interpreters.
