Canada welcomed 25,925 immigrants in February 2020
According to the official statistics by IRCC, in February 2020, Canada welcomed 25,925 permanent residents, 1,200 more compared to January 2020. Among those new PRs, 10,060 were foreign skilled workers; 4,830 immigrants were nominated by one of the provincial immigration programs; 210 were business immigrants (including investors, start-uppers, and self-employed persons); 5,100 were sponsored spouses, 1,555 were sponsored parents and grandparents, 365 were sponsored children, and 3,415 were refugees and protected persons. The share of economic class immigrants in February was 58.3%, family class constituted 27.3% of the total, while refugees were 13,1%.

Rural Pilot in Claresholm is gaining momentum
The town of Claresholm, Alberta, reported that the Claresholm Economic Development Committee (CEDC) received over 9,000 profiles of the foreign national wishing to immigrate to Claresholm in the framework of the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) in the first five weeks since the opening of the registration on February 14, 2020. At the same time, the CEDC will recommend only twenty applications in 2020. In 2021 and 2022, Claresholm may re-evaluate this number and increase the number of community recommendations. Canada to begin phase 4 of repatriation flights from India
On May 12, Phase 4 repatriation flights will begin to bring back Canadians stranded in India due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a total of 13 additional flights are being arranged. Canada has repatriated more than 4,000 Canadians from India in the third phase. However, there are still many Canadians who are stranded in India. Out of 13 scheduled flights, 10 flights are from Amritsar, two flights are from Delhi and one flight is from Ahmedabad. These flights will bring approximately 11,000 Canadians from these airports. Canadians with medical conditions will get priority.

Canada admitted 385 immigrants in the Atlantic Immigration Pilot in 2020
During January-February 2020, 385 foreign workers immigrated to Canada through the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP). Most AIPP immigrants went to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Both provinces accepted 155 newcomers each (40.3% of the total). Newfoundland and Labrador welcomed 40 AIPP immigrants (10.4%). Finally, Prince Edward Island admitted 35 newcomers through the AIPP (9.1%). Last year, Canada admitted 4,145 new permanent residents in the AIPP in 2019. According to the new Immigration Levels Plan, IRCC plans to welcome 5,000 foreign nationals in 2020. Since the launch of the AIPP, Canada admitted about 6,025 immigrants to Canada.
