Canada returned to a 60-days e-APR in the Express Entry
On June 29, 2021, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) returned to the 60-day timeframe for a complete electronic application for permanent residence (e-APR). Applicants who received an invitation to apply (ITA) on or after June 29, 2021, must submit their application for permanent residence within 60 calendar days. ITA period for permanent residence was increased from 60 to 90 days at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, to provide applicants more time to prepare their applications, in response to the challenges they faced in acquiring the necessary documentation.

Manitoba conducted an extensive MPNP draw #120
On June 28, 2021, Manitoba conducted a new draw in the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). In round #120, MPNP issued 1,017 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) in the Skilled Workers Overseas (SWO) stream. The minimum score to get the LAA in this category was 565 points. In draw #119, Manitoba issued only 24 LAAs through the SWO stream with a minimum score of 703. All invited candidates had a valid Express Entry ID and job seeker validation code. MPNP has invited 4,722 candidates in 2021, and 2,040 of them in the Express Entry.

Saskatchewan’s Entrepreneur program announced the schedule for 2021
Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) Entrepreneur program has updated the Expression of Interest (EOI) pool selection schedule. The province will conduct the EOI pool selections in 2021 on July 12, 2021, September 2, 2021, and November 4, 2021. Candidates have to complete an exploratory visit before EOI submission to claim points. Saskatchewan will temporarily accept exploratory visits completed on or after March 18, 2019. After Canada’s travel restrictions are lifted, visits will again be conducted within 12 months of EOI submission in order to be awarded points. In 2020, before the pandemic started, Saskatchewan issued 115 invitations through the Entrepreneur program.

52 candidates invited under the BCPNP Tech
On June 29, 2021, British Columbia held a new draw in the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Tech Program (BC PNP Tech). In this draw, the province invited 52 candidates in four categories: Skills Immigration – Skilled Worker, Skills Immigration – International Graduate, Express Entry British Columbia – Skilled Worker, and Express Entry British Columbia – International Graduate. The lowest score in all categories traditionally was 80 points. In 2021, British Columbia invited 1,040 candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in the BCPNP Tech. In total, BCPNP issued 5,782 ITAs to date.

Yukon published the “What We Heard” report on the province’s immigration strategy
On June 29, 2021, the Government of Yukon published the “What We Heard” report that illustrates Yukoners’ ideas and experiences with the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) to help inform immigration in the territory for the next 10 years. Through YNP, prospective immigrants with skills and experience can receive a Yukon Provincial Nomination Certificate, that will allow them to apply for Canadian permanent residence with the Government of Canada. Since the launch of the program in 2007, more than 2,000 nominees and their families have been nominated through the program. The new Immigration Strategy is expected to be announced later this year.
