Quebec has extended the duration of the Quebec Acceptance Certificate for international students
On April 30, 2020, the Quebec Ministry of Immigration (MIFI) has officially stated that the government is extending the duration of the Quebec Acceptance Certificate (CAQ) of the international students until December 31, 2020. At the same time, this decision is only applied to those whose CAQ was still valid on April 30, 2020. With this decision, Quebec wants to allow students affected by the COVID-19 crisis to complete their study and remain with valid legal status. Those students now can apply to IRCC to extend their study permits without the need to submit a new CAQ in their applications. MIFI also reminded that international students interested to apply for the Quebec Experience Program must do so no later than three months before the expiration of their status documents.

Quebec health ministry and the provincial nurse association have reached an agreement
Quebec will allow nurses with overseas or out-of-province nursing education credentials and legal immigrant status to be hired in nursing homes. At least 1,200 immigrant nurses with foreign credentials and qualifications have previously applied to the Quebec nurses’ association to have their education credentials recognized and have taken elective courses or internships for this purpose. Earlier, Ontario allowed some internationally trained doctors to apply for a short-term license to help Canada to combat the pandemic.
