Canada issued ITAs to 9,480 candidates in the International Experience Canada program
Over the last week, Canada invited 9,480 candidates in the streams of International Experience Canada (IEC) program. This was the biggest round of invitations in the last two months. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 7,432 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to the candidates in the Working Holiday stream from France, completing almost all expanded quota for this country. IRCC also issued ITAs to the candidates from such countries as Australia, Germany, Ireland, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. Candidates from each of those countries got at least 100 ITAs. As of May 24, 2019, Canada issued 95,940 ITAs in this program in 2019.

Whitehorse and Sudbury selected as a Welcoming Francophone Community
On May 22-23, 2019, IRCC released press releases, stating that Whitehorse, YT and Sudbury, BC have been selected as a Welcoming Francophone Community as part of the Government of Canada’s Action Plan for Official Languages. Under the Welcoming Francophone Communities initiative, a total of 14 communities across Canada will receive funding so they can create programs and activities to help French-speaking newcomers feel welcomed and integrated into Francophone minority communities. This initiative of $12.6 million over 3 years was announced to support the integration and retention of French-speaking newcomers in Canada.

Nova Scotia invited 27 entrepreneurs
On May 17, 2019, Nova Scotia held a new Draw in the Entrepreneur Stream of the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP). 27 candidates have been invited in this round and the lowest score was 112 points. The Entrepreneur Stream is designed for experienced business owners or senior business managers who want to launch their business in Nova Scotia. Eligible candidates should have a net worth of at least $600,000 CAD and be able to invest at least $150,000 CAD to establish a business in Nova Scotia. NSNP has already issued 109 invitations via the Entrepreneur Stream in 2019.
